The prot warrior guides, like the other tanking specs, has three different tank styles.
The first is DPS. This build focuses on maximizing DPS output.
The second is mitigation spike damage. This build focuses on smoothing out incoming damage. It makes your health bar less "jerky" for healers.
The final is mitigation flat damage. This build is more like the old "CTC" style tanking, or Combat Table Capped. It focuses more on minimizing all incoming damage, either by blocks, parries, or dodges.
All of these builds work just fine, so pick the one you think is best for what you want to do.
